The production capacity of silicone methyl monomer in China is up to 5 million tons.

According to the latest statistics of the China Adhesives and Tape Industry Association, by the end of 2022, the production capacity of silicone methyl monomers in China has reached 5 million tons, accounting for about 67% of the total production capacity of silicone methyl monomers in the world. 

At present, there are 13 silicone monomer enterprises (including foreign enterprises) in China, of which 7 are under construction and expansion, involving silicone monomer production capacity of about 2.25 million tons per year. 

In addition, 16 enterprises in China are planning to build silicone monomer devices, involving a production capacity of about 5.85 million tons per year, of which more than 10 non-industry enterprises plan to build new projects with a production capacity of about 3.55 million tons per year. 

Among the proposed new silicone monomer enterprises, only Xinjiang Xinshengan Silicon Industry Science and Technology Co., Ltd. has signed the general contract, and the rest of the companies have not been substantially promoted, and it is expected that it will not be completed during the 14th five-year Plan period. 

Due to the high cost of producing silicone in overseas enterprises, the possibility of expanding the production capacity of organosilicon monomers abroad in recent years is very small, and it is possible to withdraw one after another. 

It is estimated that by the end of the 14th five-year Plan, the production capacity of silicone methyl monomers in China will reach 7.5 million tons per year, accounting for more than 75% of the total production capacity of organosilicon methyl monomers in the world.
