Reporters learned from Baofeng Energy on March 26 that the world's largest coal-based ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) project, Baofeng Energy's annual output of 250,000 tons of EVA project, has been producing stably since it was put into operation in early February. The output load has been increased to 90.4%, achieving stable operation. Baofeng Energy has thus created an industry precedent for using coal to replace petroleum to produce EVA, opening up the entire industry chain and product chain of coal-based polyolefins.
It is reported that the project uses coal as raw material, pressurizes, gasifies, transforms and purifies pulverized coal, uses low-pressure methanol synthesis technology to produce MTO-grade methanol, and then uses DMTO equipment and olefin separation to produce polymer-grade ethylene and propylene, polymer-grade ethylene and acetic acid Ethylene copolymerization produces EVA.
Industry experts said that the cost per ton of Baofeng Energy’s coal-based EVA products has obvious advantages over oil-based EVA. One is because of the advanced technology. The high-pressure tubular process technology of Germany's Basel (BASELL) was selected for the project. The technical and economic indicators of the process package design have reached the internationally advanced level, and have the advantages of high yield and low energy consumption of the device. The second reason is that the industrial chain is complete. The project is supported by a vinyl acetate project with an annual output of 100,000 tons, forming a complete raw material supply guarantee system.
According to Liu Yuanguan, President of Baofeng Energy, the current domestic dependence on imports of high-end products such as EVA photovoltaic materials and hot melt adhesives is close to 40%. The production capacity of Baofeng Energy’s 250,000 tons of coal-to-EVA project accounts for 9.26% of the total domestic EVA production capacity. The commissioning of this project can effectively fill the import gap of domestic high-end products such as EVA and inject new strong momentum into ensuring national energy security.
He said that the Baofeng Energy EVA project has high-end products, a full range of categories, and a wide range of applications. It can produce 22 brands, enabling one production line to switch to produce products of different brands. Among them, 11 brands of products have VA content as high as 30%. The products have high purity, good flexibility, ductility, transparency, film-forming properties, stability and insulation. They are mainly used for photovoltaic films, foaming and hot melt. Adhesive and other fields, it can completely cover the market's diversified demand for high-end EVA materials.
Since the start of construction of the Baofeng Energy EVA project, the construction speed has also set a number of industry records. Among them, the primary and secondary compressor debugging of key equipment has set the fastest record in the industry; the hydraulic oil system only took 25 days to pass the oil shipment, which is faster than Similar projects shortened the construction period by more than 20 days; the high-pressure circulating gas heat exchanger and secondary compressor system high-pressure pipelines were purged in only 17 days, shortening the construction period by more than 43 days compared with similar projects. The construction period only took 40 months, and all EVA1803 products currently produced are qualified.
