The world's largest PTA project with single unit production capacity is put into operation

On April 11, we learned from the Sinopec Information Office that the PTA (purified terephthalic acid) project with the largest monomer production capacity in the world was officially put into production at Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber. The project has a production capacity of 3 million tons per year. It is an important step for Sinopec to promote the transformation and upgrading of the aromatics industry chain and accelerate the expansion of high-end new materials. It will effectively drive and develop the downstream 100-billion-level new material industry and better meet people's clothing, food, and New demands for housing, transportation, health and environmental protection. 

From "really good" to new materials that "transform all things", we help people live a better life. PTA is a petroleum derivative that can be used as raw material to produce polyester chemical fibers and plays a "connecting" role in the aromatics-polyester industry chain. In the 1970s and 1980s, "Chenliang" (a type of polyester fiber) promoted the "clothing revolution" of the Chinese people. Nowadays, polyester fiber has evolved from a substitute for cotton in the past to a new material that can "regenerate all things". It is increasingly used in aerospace, intelligent sensing, photovoltaic power generation, new energy vehicles, communication optical cables and other fields, and is increasingly integrated into people's lives. close.

Leading in technology, providing a demonstration for industry development. The PTA unit is recognized as one of the most complex chemical plants in the industry. The newly built 3 million tons/year PTA unit is the PTA unit with the largest single unit production capacity in the world. In addition, the project adopts industry-leading short-process, intelligent production technology, and the equipment localization rate is as high as 97.5%, further demonstrating my country's technical strength in this field. At the same time, the project adopts green production technology, and its energy consumption, material consumption, and "three wastes" emission indicators per ton of products are industry-leading, helping the industry achieve green and sustainable development.

Promote the development of downstream new material industries worth hundreds of billions. The project is listed as a key project of Sinopec and a major project of Jiangsu Province, with an investment scale of more than 5 billion yuan. As a major chemical industry province, Jiangsu Province has continuously promoted the industry to strengthen and extend the chain in recent years. The commissioning of the project will help integrate and optimize the regional resources of refining and chemical enterprises in Jiangsu Province, promote the coordinated development of the PTA industry chain, enhance the overall competitiveness and resilience of the industry chain, and effectively drive and develop the local economy and industry, achieving integrated enterprise-region development. .

Sinopec has helped my country’s PTA industry take off from its inception. The production of PTA in my country began in 1982. Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical introduced PTA production technology from abroad and built 36,000 tons/year production equipment. Since then, Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical, Yangzi Petrochemical and other companies have also introduced PTA production technology. , and successively built PTA production equipment. At the beginning of this century, my country's PTA production was only more than 2 million tons and consumption was less than 5 million tons. After years of development, my country's PTA production capacity currently ranks first in the world, becoming the world's largest PTA producer and consumer.
